" SOUND MIND IN A SOUND BODY " In high school I continued to participate in sports. The competition was more intense, so I trained harder. My body was enduring grueling physical tasks which was only counterbalanced by my time spent at the spa. These experiences reemphasized what my mother told me as a child. Now, I learned on my own, how important it was to maintain balance in sports and for that matter- in life. During high school years I got a job in a print shop to secure my family's financial problems. I needed some change and left the shop after 5 years. But my employment opportunities were limited, because I was living in a Communist Society. I always dreamt about coming to America and thankfully, I had a chance to make this dream come true. I was fortunate enough to obtain a job as a nanny in New York City. That led me to the modeling business. I worked hard at my jobs and I worked hard to learn English. I slowly became more comfortable with my surroundings and with the English Language. Learning English was one of the obstacles that I had to overcome. I was feeling more secure with the English Language and started pursuing and looking forward to a different career path. Although, I enjoyed my time in New York City, it was very hectic and I wanted to live in a new environment. I lived in several places in the USA and finally settled down in Connecticut where immediately I felt more at home. I started going to spas for massages regularly. This helped me to relax and rejuvenate my mind and body. This also sparked my interest in yoga. I started reading about yoga and attending yoga classes. Yoga practice became part of my daily routine. I was trying to bring my body, mind and spirit into balance and harmony. All of this was tested in June of 2005, when I was diagnosed with a serious liver problem. I was able to use massage therapy, yoga and a healthy diet to help alleviate and expedite my recovery. During that time I increased my knowledge by reading Natural Cures by Kevin Trudeau and Detox by Sarah Rose. Soon after, I attended a workshop at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, Massachusetts. I learned Thai-Yoga Bodywork from Paul Cramer and received the Certification from the Lotus Palm School. I had a great experience there and it confirmed my desire to pursue a career in Massage Therapy. I graduated from the Connecticut Center For Massage Therapy, December of 2007. I am a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and I am a Connecticut Licensed Massage Therapist. I became Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork in February of 2008. I worked at The Relaxation Station of CT, in Berlin, as an independent contractor for a year. Then I opened my own Massage Therapy practice, Massage By Kat, LLC in Glastonbury,CT on May 1st of 2009. My work became my passion. I love what I do and I put my heart into it. It's the greatest feeling when I can help my clients feel better and they say : "No more pain! Thank you Kat for helping me!" Running my own business is not easy, so I'm grateful to have a group of professionals on my side to help when I need one. Thank you all . . .
